Value-Added Services

In addition to supplying some of the world's largest engineered castings, Hodge Foundry offers a number of value-added services, such as pattern-making, heat treating, painting and limited (non-CNC) machining. Performing these services on-site can eliminate transportation costs of shipping castings to subcontractors to have these services performed.

Pattern-Making

Hodge Foundry's pattern-making and pattern-repair services enable us to handle complex patterns for some of the world's largest engineered castings. We are experienced in a full range of pattern materials, including wood, composites and polystyrene foam.

Our particular expertise in utilizing polystyrene patterns allows us to be an especially cost effective supplier for customers who have low-volume casting requirements, saving them as much as 40 percent of the pattern cost versus wood and other materials. Foam patterns are also particularly appealing to customers who are considering switching from a welded fabrication to a casting, and who want to avoid the high cost of a wood or composite pattern.

Heat Treating

Heat treating is done in two on-site programmable, controlled ovens. Our smaller oven can perform annealing, stress relief and normalizing for smaller-size castings, while our larger oven can perform stress relief and sub-critical annealing on castings up to 18 by 36 by 12 feet. In addition, large-dimension castings can also be heat-treated by one of our qualified outside vendors.

Painting

Hodge has an EPA-certified paint booth, where we can apply rust-inhibiting primers and finishing topcoats.

Machining

Hodge offers limited (non-CNC; manual only) machining capabilities for use in specific applications. Please contact us for further details regarding our in-house machining capabilities.

Hodge maintains close, working relationships with a variety of third-party machining vendors. We often assist our customers in identifying suitable candidates for the machining of our gray and ductile iron castings.
